# Freedom to Distill featured on WAVE 3 News

On March 5, the Bluegrass Institute proudly welcomed Robert Alt of the Buckeye Institute to discuss his case [*Ream v. U.S. Department of Treasury*](https://www.buckeyeinstitute.org/issues/detail/ream-v-us-department-of-treasury?ref=bluegrassinstitute.org)*,* in which his client has sued the federal government for the right to distill rye whiskey at home.

The implications of this case go far beyond the cask: currently before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, it has the potential to overturn *Wickard v. Filburn*, finally gutting Washington’s ability to meddle in purely private, intrastate activities.
