On March 5, the Bluegrass Institute proudly welcomed Robert Alt of the Buckeye Institute to discuss his case Ream v. U.S. Department of Treasury, in which his client has sued the federal government for the right to distill rye whiskey at home.
The implications of this case go far beyond the cask: currently before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, it has the potential to overturn Wickard v. Filburn, finally gutting Washington’s ability to meddle in purely private, intrastate activities.
