Akiva Malamet

Akiva Malamet is a Health Policy Research Fellow with the Bluegrass Institute and an editor for Liberalism.org, a project of the Institute for Humane Studies. His health care interests include clinician licensing, food and drug regulation, civil liberties in medicine, and pluralistic care provision. Other research interests include political philosophy, political economy and social theory, law, and history. His work broadly engages the institutions, culture, and philosophical foundations of a free, open, and pluralistic society.

Malamet’s work appears in popular outlets including Liberal Currents, Libertarianism.org, The UnPopulist, Econlib, and the Kentucky Lantern. His scholarship includes chapters and articles in venues such as The Routledge Companion to Libertarianism and Cosmos + Taxis, as well as publications from the Cato Institute and other research organizations. He has also appeared on numerous podcasts, including ReImagining Liberty, The Curious Task, and Free Thoughts.

Previously, Malamet served as a Health Policy Research Associate at the Cato Institute. He holds an M.A. in Philosophy (Political & Legal Thought) from Queen's University at Kingston and a B.A. in Government from Reichman University. He was also a Don Lavoie Fellow with the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, a PPE Graduate Fellow with the Institute for Liberal Studies, and a recipient of the Carl Menger Essay Prize from the Society for the Development of Austrian Economics.
